What Is The Best Path To Finally Living Unleashed?

Do you want it all ...
all the success and joy you can get?
Do you want health, wealth, and wisdom?

I used to be a mess. I didn’t look like a mess. But I was one ... underneath—inside, where it counts.  That’s where my misery monsters were having a field day!

When I was in my late twenties, I joined an eating-disorder support group. I made some great friends in that group, including my best friend, Jan.

Jan told me years later that when she first saw me, she thought I had it all together.

I was working as a judicial clerk at the time, and I wore the power suits with the power accessories. My make-up was always in place. My hair was styled. My nails were polished. I had the posture, the walk, the expression. I looked like I had it all.

But I didn’t.

Under that fine-looking exterior, I was full of self-doubt, fear, anxiety, the despair of depression, and anger.  I was stressed beyond belief.

That was twenty years ago.

How about now?

Well, I’m no longer working in the legal field. I hated the work. So I quit and went after my real dream—of being a successful writer.

I no longer wear the power suits and accessories. But I still look good. It's just a natural good, one that's as real as the happiness I feel inside.

How did I get that real happiness and
how can you have it too?

I’m going to tell you, but first let me tell you what didn’t work.

The support group, though it helped me cope with the eating disorder, didn’t clean up the mess inside me.

Hundreds of self-help books that advised me to dissect my past didn’t clean up the mess.

Workshops, therapy, medication, tapes and CDs—none of it cleaned up the mess.

Don’t get me wrong. Some of it helped.

I learned a lot along the way.

The mess that was inside me got a little smaller ... or at least I could see the mess a little clearer.

Still, I had that mess. All that self-doubt, fear, anxiety, despair, and anger—all that gunk—kept happiness away from me as surely as bad breath repels the opposite sex.

Then I learned the secret to having the happiness I wanted. As you keep reading, you’ll start feeling excited about having that happiness too.

Benjamin Franklin said, “Many people lead bad lives that would gladly lead good ones but do not know how to make the change.” That sure was true for me. How about you?

Do you have bad stuff in your life that you’d like to change to good but you just don’t know how?

Benjamin Franklin worked hard on inner change all through his life. In fact, part of his program for personal growth is what gave me the idea that helped change my life.

What did Benjamin Franklin do that was so powerful?

He drew up a list of what he called “virtues.” Ultimately, he ended up with thirteen of them. Franklin then set up a thirteen-week course for practicing his virtues. Each week he focused on one virtue, and he marked down in a diary the progress he made toward developing that virtue.

Inspired by Ben Franklin, I began practicing my own list of virtues. I called them qualities.

I learned to develop the inner qualities I needed to create the life I wanted to live. And now you can learn how to develop those qualities too.

Imagine having inside you the key to getting everything you want in life? Sound good?

Fifty two inner qualities that are your key to living your best life are waiting for you in Healthy, Wealthy, & Wise—52 Life-changing Lessons for the Twenty-first Century.

So what qualifies me to write this book?  Why should you listen to me?

Although I have a B.A. in Psychology from The College of William and Mary (and a J.D. from the Marshall Wythe School of Law at The College of William and Mary), I didn’t write this book from some ivory tower expert’s perspective.

I’ve read enough of those books. You know the ones I’m talking about. Where someone who has never struggled with your problem thinks they can tell you how to solve the problem because they have a bunch of letters after their name? Doesn’t that just bug the heck out of you?

I once read a book about depression that advised the reader to get out and do more, to be more active. Well, if I wasn’t depressed, I thought as I read it, I would go out and do more.

I felt like the guy who wrote the book didn’t have a clue about what it felt like to be depressed. Do you know what I mean?

I wrote Healthy, Wealthy, & Wise from the perspective of a person who has struggled and who has learned from the struggles.

Here’s a few words from one of my readers about what my perspective has to offer:

“You have a very insightful and positive view on life that makes me feel okay about myself.”

M. Thurman

Hoquiam, Washington

I have suffered from severe, suicidal depression. I have struggled with an eating disorder and obesity. I have endured severe pain—back problems, knee problems, hip problems, excruciating heel spurs, hormone problems, thyroid problems, blood pressure problems, and heart problems. I have been divorced. I have been in horrible relationships. I have been lonely. I have struggled financially. I have experienced failure after failure after failure in my work.

Believe me, I have a clue about what it feels like to be unhappy and to want more from life.

But hey! I turned myself around. And you can too. I’m sure you’re beginning to see how you can do what I’ve done.

And what kind of writer am I? Here’s what one reader says:

“I'm a fan of Sarah Ban Breathnach's, and I rank you up in her category. Authors like you have so much to offer to us out here who are like sponges.”

Joan Bausher

Aberdeen, Washington

I have developed and practiced every quality in the book.

Some days, I do better displaying the qualities than others. But I work at them every day.

The result?

I feel great, and I’m in great health. I’ve found the love of my life, and I’m happily married. I’m selling books, and my husband and I are building a successful business.

And if you don’t want to take advice from me, how about taking advice from Benjamin Franklin? He knew the value of developing the virtues or qualities that lead you to your best life.

Imagine waking up in the morning feeling excited about your day.

Picture yourself being joyful all the time, not just on special occasions or when you have enough drinks (or food or drugs or…) to dull your inner pain.

Go forward in your head to a year from now. Think about what it will be like to know that you have within you everything you need to handle anything that comes your way.

Stop looking out there someplace for solutions to your problems

Instead, look inside.

When you develop the qualities in Healthy, Wealthy, & Wise, you will have what it takes to build the best life possible.

What are you waiting for?

No matter where you are in your life. No matter what you’ve struggled with. You really can create the life you want, from within, by developing the qualities in Healthy, Wealthy, & Wise.

So what do you think?

Do you want to keep wishing you had the life you want?

Or do you want to create it?

It’s your choice.

I expect you choose to develop the qualities you need for the best life possible. Get Healthy, Wealthy and Wise: 52 Life-Changing Lessons for the Twenty-first Century, Inspired by Ben Franklin
